Case 1: Guangzhou South Railway Station
On May 12, a passenger suddenly collapsed in the third-floor waiting hall of Guangzhou South Railway Station. The individual was in cardiac arrest, with life hanging by a thread. Thanks to the quick response and professional CPR by staff, and the use of a Jousing AED deployed at the station, the passenger was successfully rescued.
Case 2: the Dalian Marathon
On May 11, during the 35th Dalian Marathon with over 30,000 participants, a critical medical emergency unfolded mid-race. At 9:30 AM, a male runner collapsed near the 20-kilometer mark, showing no signs of breathing or heartbeat.
Liu Tao, an on-site emergency response instructor, immediately began CPR and radioed for an AED. Volunteer Cheng Yingyu sprinted 70 meters in just 30 seconds to deliver the device. A first defibrillation shock was administered swiftly, followed by five cycles of CPR.
When the patient experienced a second episode of ventricular fibrillation, the rescue team delivered a second shock, successfully restoring both spontaneous breathing and heartbeat-all within a remarkable 2 minutes and 7 seconds. The runner was later transported to the hospital for further treatment.
This rescue was made possible by the team’s intensive training and rapid coordination, backed by a three-tier emergency response system: trained volunteers along the course, strategically deployed AEDs, and real-time coordination with designated hospitals.
Case 3: Nanchang Metro Station
On May 9, a passenger at a metro station in Nanchang suffered sudden cardiac arrest and collapsed. Staff responded immediately, performing CPR and using the station’s AED for defibrillation. The passenger regained spontaneous breathing and heartbeat before being transferred to a hospital by EMS.
Case 4: Zhengzhou
On May 8, a 30-year-old man collapsed during a basketball game. Liu Zhendong, director of the local Red Cross, rushed to retrieve a Jousing AED from a donation center and ran to the scene with other volunteers.
CPR was initiated immediately, and the patient’s airway was cleared. A defibrillation shock was delivered using the AED, and the man regained spontaneous breathing. He was then transported by ambulance, assisted by the volunteers.

Case 5: Dongyang Health Center
On May 6, a patient suffered a sudden heart attack at the Nanma Town Health Center in Dongyang. Case 6: Rizhao Swimming Center
On May 3, a 67-year-old swimmer collapsed from a heart attack at the Rizhao Swimming Center. Staff retrieved a Jousing AED and completed the first defibrillation shock within 3 minutes of the incident—exactly within the golden window to save a life.
